The Center for Natural Medicine
Integrative Residency Program
Clinic Description and History
The Center for Natural Medicine Inc (CNM) established since 1991 as an integrated clinic with ND, DC, LAC and LMT providers and is offering a NERC sponsored residency program as of 2010. CNM is a teaching clinic of National College of Natural Medicine (NCNM) since 1999. CNM has offered residencies in collaboration with NCNM since 1999 as part of a fixed internship for last year medical students emphasizing cardiovascular and pulmonary naturopathic medicine and primary care.
Specialty services available at CNM include consultation second opinions, resting EKG’s, exercise stress testing, 24 hour holter monitoring, oxygen multistep therapy, cardiac rehabilitation programs, pulmonary function testing, peripheral vascular auditory doppler and plethysmography and intravenous therapies among other services.
This NERC sponsored residency gives the resident an opportunity to share patient care with Martin Milner, N.D. in the management of his private patient population. The patient demographics include an active practice mix of complex cardiovascular and pulmonary medicine, diabetes, menopause, hypothyroidism, neurotransmitter imbalances with primary care and other internal medicine conditions. This is a very active residency where over 60 patient contacts per week are insured. You will be seeing patients under Dr. Milner’s supervision at the onset of the residency in October of each academic year. Applicants for the residency position are restricted to having completed a fixed shift Internship with Dr. Milner in their last year before graduation.
This residency includes clinical rotations with conventional cardiologists and possibly other physicians. It is required that the resident complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification ideally before starting on October 1st of each academic year. A research project is required as well and the resident has a co-responsibility with Dr. Milner for teaching NCNM preceptors who assist in patient care.
