The Riverwalk Natural Health Clinic
Integrative Residency Program

Clinic Description and History

The Riverwalk Natural Health Clinic was established in 1998 by Dr. Wiancek. The Riverwalk Natural Health Clinic is a new residency program designed to show new graduates how to practice in an unlicensed state. We are currently covered by the local insurance plans and do labs through the local hospital. Our goal is to inform and provide individuals from all walks of life on the benefits of naturopathic medicine. Since many unlicensed states do not have N.D.'s our clients come from all over the country.

Integrative Pharmacy

We currently have a large integrative pharmacy on site where residents will mix up teas, tinctures, skin care products and Chinese granules. They will also learn about inventory, ordering, pricing products and educating the local community on natural products. The resident will be responsible for the quarterly newsletter and educational talks.

Opportunities for Residents to Develop Marketing Skills

The residents have the opportunity to lecture in the community, support groups, and to manage a regular lecture series at the clinic. Go to the local chamber meeting and the Vail Valley Women's Business group meetings to educate. We also provide a booth at the local health fairs.

Program Structure

The residency program is structured as follows:
• Direct patient care in a family-centered family practice
• Weekly conferencing and mentoring with Dr. Deborah Wiancek
• Clinical grand rounds attended weekly
• Clinical rotations with selected specialty practitioners
• Rotation in the pharmacy
• Public lectures and newsletters
• Opportunities for research and special projects

Program Goals and Development

Our goal is to continue to provide the highest quality care to our patients and excellent
postgraduate training for naturopathic graduates. We also seek to further expand into
greater integration in the larger medical community and expose the residents to the
benefits of this to our patients.
