San Francisco Natural Medicine

NERC Integrative Residency Program

Clinic Description and History
San Francisco Natural Medicine is San Francisco's largest naturopathic medical clinic and newest NERC residency site, with its first resident beginning in January 2010. Founded in 1989 by Carl Hangee-Bauer, ND, LAc, the clinic has grown dramatically since the passage of SB 907, the Naturopathic Licensing Act, in 2003. Located on sunny Potrero Hill, the ~2750 square foot clinic space has eight treatment rooms as well as a spacious front office and well-stocked naturopathic and traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy. There are presently three naturopathic doctors on staff as well as one resident position for a practitioner dual licensed as both a naturopathic doctor and a licensed acupuncturist. This residency offers the practitioner who integrates the principles and modalities of naturopathic medicine with those of traditional Chinese medicine a supportive environment to learn, practice and develop their skills. This NERC residency is accredited with the CNME and affiliated with Bastyr University.
